Hello Jack,

Thanks for visiting Almost Italian dot com. We've never been there either although we hope to correct that the next time we head north.

And yes indeed, they're still going strong at 246 Wanamaker Avenue in Essington.

Best regards,

Wow!!!

I have tried for many years to figure out where a friend of mine would buy 5-10 of the best stromboli's I ever tasted and deliver them to me almost every Friday nite during the summer. I knew he purchased them in Essington Pa. but, never had the opportunity to check out the place personally, although I'M originally from So. Philly and lived fairly close to Romano's for many years.

The thing that separated Romano's Stromboli from everyone else's is the thinness of the loaf after it was baked. It was truly an appetizer; where as the ones sold now-a-days are more entree sizes and over stuffed with cheese.

My friend mentioned to me that Romano's was the original creator of the Stromboli.

Now I know the rest of the story.

Does any one know if Romano's in Essington Pa. is still operating?
