My mom-- who is NOT Italian and didn't know the significance of lentils--simply thought it would be nice to have some lentil soup tonight. Busy covering up the plants in her yard, she didn't feel like making it herself. She went into the local mega-mart and found that every can of Progresso Lentil Soup had been sold, presumably to snow-bird Italians.
