The only alternative I can think of is to buy them fresh.

Best of luck,

Hi, I am looking for cherry peppers that are not packed in vinegar. My aunt gave me a recipe for stuffed peppers years before she died. She used cherry peppers that were not packed in vineger, because it overpowered the peppers. Your input would be appreciated. Thank you bob

Many thank for your kind words. We spend our summers in southeastern Connecticut, and therefore, a lot of time in Westerly. We have been impressed that Westerly is perhaps unique in America for having two local delicacies that don't seem to appear anywhere else: spezzi and soupy. Perhaps one day, we'll solve this mystery once and for all. In the meantime, we'll continue to make our own spezzi and rely on Mike Dippolino (Dipper's Meat Packing Co.) to keep us supplied with soupy here in Florida.

All the best,

Hi, born and raised in Westerly and graduated from Westerly High in 1956. My Mother-in-law was an Adimari, calabrese and made the best spezzi. It was a favorite of my late husband, Robert Browning from Stonington. I grew up in the North End and 80% of the population in that area was Italian. Big gardens and the best cooks. Very generous with the produce from their gardens. The home-made bread was the best. God, this brings back some great memories. Have lived in Florida since 1994 and miss the great Italian culture. Thanks for taking me down memory lane. Happy
Holidays to you and your family. Jean Browning

This sounds really good. I usually have cherry peppers stuffed with cream cheese. So simple and so tasty.

Hi Skip, I live in the Burbs of Chicago, was raised in the city. I came across your blog today and I'm happy I did! I will be back on a regular basis. I'm a member of an Italian American club out here, and love reading about our history.
